Inventing the "SKOP" - a fashion breakthrough

Hey guys! ANOTHER takeover by BibaYusuf's fave sister Haajirah :) Okay, so I think I've started a new trend… No wait, I HAVE! Wearing a skirt as a top!! (genius, I know!)  I actually created the outfit by accident, when I put a skirt on with the zip still up and it got stuck at my shoulders annnnd… the "skop" invention was created. *humbly accepts congratulating back pats.*

I wanted to keep the skop (yes, I've just made the skirt-top official) looking casual for a picnic/everyday look so I paired the daring orange skirt with dark denim culottes, and block heeled sandals, which by the way all belong to Habeebah. You can probably tell I'm dying to be her.

The neck of the skop, (waist of skirt) was waaay too big so I pinned it at the back so you couldn't tell it was a skirt.

It looks like a flowy top because of the pleats. They were probably the best bit of the skop because they made it look unique.

You can't see it here but I wore a vest top underneath just in case the wind blew the skop up. For a casual look, I kept my make up neutral with a simple winged liner, brown lip and tons of highlight.

LOOK NO.2

The skop can be dressed up too. My model (aka the sis) decided to try the skop out so she wore one for
Eid. She paired the dark floral skirt with pastel culottes, black heels and a gold bag.

I loved the glitter eyes that jazzed up the outfit so well, along with a pink lip (and hoops earrings for life) Also can we appreciate them fleeky eyebrows!!!

I would definitely wear the skop (I just love that word) again both casual or evening looks.

Eid ul Fitr 2016

And the most anticipated day of the year is over! After weeks of prepping, buying presents for the family, decorating the house, making and baking biscuits and all things yummy, the day is over. Ramadhan this year was so incredible as always, the atmosphere in the neighbourhood is just something so different, it's indescribable. Everyone's mood is just generally uplifted, but before you know it, the month flies by.

Eid day was just amazing this year, and it was extra special because of 2 new arrivals to the family, my beautiful niece and nephew. My family love to go all out on Eid, and we make extra effort to put up tons of decorations the night before and make sure the house is spick and span. This year I ordered most of the Eid decor online from Muslim Sticker Company, they've got a great range of Eid balloons, banners, buntings, Eid lights and also gift ideas and I ordered a few bits from Amazon  too. My sisters are keen bakers so they're in charge of all the baking in our house. This year I had a go at baking biscuits myself, and they turned out to be a success, So I had to make an extra batch!

My favourite thing about Eid is gift giving, and receiving of course! Finding gifts for my siblings this year was so exciting and I got some real good bargains this year in the pre-summer sales too. I'll link a few gifts ideas below for inspiration.

  • Beard grooming kit for the lads who already have or trying to grow a beard from Mo Bro's
  • Baby girls denim trench coat from Zara that I bought for my niece.
  • Tanya Bakes  cooking book for my sister who is a baking addict.
  • Clothes from Forever21 for my sister who's starting college after the holidays and plus they've got a sale on right now.

For my outfit I wore some gold culottes that I picked up from the Forever21 sale and my sister's top from a local boutique.

I hope you guys had an amazing Eid and got lots of Eidi too!!

My go-to green smoothie

I love starting my mornings with a huge glass of green goodness which consists of a blast of spinach, orange juice, apples and banana. I decided to start including a glass of greens into my diet since my body was low on iron, and this was the best way to boost up the levels without having to take any medication. Spinach (and most other greens such as kale, lettuce, collard greens) contain tons of benefits and are excellent sources of vitamin A and K, magnesium, iron, potassium, calcium and vitamin C.

Just about a week after drinking green smoothies daily, I noticed a huge improvement in my physical and mental wellbeing. My skin was glowing, I felt full of energy and my tiredness that I had felt before, due to lack of iron disappeared.

My family at first were disgusted at the thought of me drinking raw greens, but eventually they gave in, tried it and now they're hooked! There are so many variations to this smoothie, but after trial and error, I've finally found a concussion that tastes best in my opinion!

I really hope you guys give this a try, I assure you it tastes way better than it looks!!

To make one cup:
  • a handful of spinach (or any greens of your choice)
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 apple
  • 1/2 a frozen banana (freeze the banana with the skin PEELED!!)
  • 3/4 cup water
And just blitz up all the ingredients!
